Res-Q Automated Backup - FAQ's

How do I use multiple backup configurations?

Res-Q stores file selection criteria and various other settings in a "set" file.  Unless directed otherwise, Res-Q will start up using the "default.set" file for this purpose.  You may have multiple set files, each with different file selection or other criteria, and choose which one will be used for the current backup.  To do this, begin by setting all the options you want for this backup set.  Then using the "File | Save As" pull-down menu selection, save the file with a unique name, ending with the ".set" extension.  For example, you may want to have a fullback.set and a databack.set file.  For manual or timed automatic backups, choose the desired set file using the "File | Open" pull-down menu selection, and then start the backup.  Optionally, you may create a shortcut icon for each type of backup, by adding the name of the set file as a command-line parameter in the shortcut properties.  To do this, create a shortcut to the res-q.exe file, then edit the properties of the shortcut, adding a single space and then the set filename after the command line.  Now, double-clicking the icon will start Res-Q using the options stored in that particular set file.  The same may be done in the Windows Startup folder, if you want Res-Q to always start automatically with a certain set file upon starting the computer.
