Due to the security features of NT/2000 operating systems, these may require some special procedures for installation and operation. Before installing, you must be logged in as Administrator. After installation, you may log in under your normal user account, but if you are using this account to perform backups, you must have sufficient rights to back up the target files. Running Res-Q as a system service allows you to specify that it run in the context of the Local System account, which would have sufficient rights. For more information on running as a service, see the related FAQ. You may also encounter some installation errors if files are locked or in use. One of these is the MFC42.DLL file, which is a Windows system file that is normally locked by the operating system. There is also a related FAQ for this particular problem.
