Res-Q Automated Backup is a 32-bit system agent for Windows 95/98/NT and Windows ME/2000 that automatically performs backups without user intervention. The Res-Q Backup Agent is designed to assist users with the somewhat tedious, but important task of creating accurate and regular backups of data. By automating the backup process and still allowing users the flexibility to choose from a broad range of backup scenarios, Res-Q proves to be a robust backup solution for all types of users.
Res-Q users perform a one-time setup process, during which they choose various backup options. These options are used by Res-Q when it performs its automated backup. The backup process consists of three basic functions. First, the stored options are used to compile a list of files to be backed up, then those files are stored in a compressed (and optionally encrypted) transmission file which is then sent to the Res-Q server via a secure, fault-tolerant communications session. Once stored on Res-Q's server, the user's backup is unavailable to anyone else, even Res-Q employees. In one easy, automated step, all critical files are encrypted, backed up, and stored safely off-site.
